Me Derek Chen joined ML Avocats’ litigation team as an articling student. He practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and administrative law.

Me Chen first began his practice as a paralegal in a large law firm in Montreal. Driven by his passion for litigation, Me Chen went on to complete his law degree in order to become a lawyer.

During his studies, Me Chen took part in the Laskin Moot Court Competition, competing against law faculties across Canada. Me Chen put his writing skills to good use, which allowed Université Laval’s team to earn 4th place in the Top 10 Factums.

With a strong desire to promote access to justice, Me Chen has also been involved in a number of legal clinics, including the very first Clinique juridique du Barreau du Québec, as part of the Barreau du Québec’s pilot program. Me Chen’s attentiveness to his clients’ needs allowed him to offer personalized solutions.
